Announcing the 2013 Distinguished Advocate
|The Distinguished Advocate Award
is given to individuals who reflect and demonstrate a deep, unwavering and generous commitment to the values of our mission, and whose work spreads tolerance to help build a better world for next generations.In 2013, we are pleased to present the Distinguished Advocate Award to Peter and Elisa Rapaport in recognition of their generous volunteer and philanthropic support of the Red Cross, The Anne Frank Center, and numerous other non-profit organizations.
Elisa and Peter are strong supporters of the Center, and always ready to help share our message and carry our mission forward. We are honored to have them as friends and partners, and to show our appreciation for their dedication to spreading tolerance and Anne Frank’s ideals.
Announcing the 2013 Human Writes Award Winner
|Through her writings, Anne spoke of the need for a world based in social justice, mutual respect, individual responsibility, and moral courage. The Human Writes Award to honor authors whose body of work explores relationships and the ideas and ideals that have become synonymous with Anne Frank.
The first Human Writes Award went to playwright Arthur Miller. Two other writers have received the award: novelist Joseph Kanon (2007) and author and columnist Nicholas D. Kristof (2008).
In 2013, the Center is proud to present the Human Writes Award to author Steve Berry.
Steve has 14 million books in print, has been translated into 40 languages in 51 countries. He and his wife, Elizabeth, founded History Matters, a nonprofit organization dedicated to historic preservation.
Recipients of the student and educator awards will be named at a later date.
