Art of Self-Discovery Teaching Artist
Alex Leav is a Brooklyn-based artist, arts professional, and educator. Originally from Long Island, New York, she holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (‘22) and a BA in History from the University of Michigan (‘19), where she focused on World War II and the Holocaust. Alex’s paintings, which examine female identity in an era shaped by social media and algorithmic influence, have been exhibited in solo and group shows in New York, London, and Rome. In addition to her visual practice, her writing on contemporary art—spanning reviews, interviews, and essays—has been published in BOMB Magazine, Interview Magazine, and émergent Magazine. Alex teaches both art history and studio art at ArtsClub NYC, guiding students through hands-on artistic practice and critical analysis. She previously served as Director of Communications at Fredericks & Freiser Gallery, where she led strategic outreach and exhibition programming, and has worked with institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit and Marlborough New York in curatorial research, gallery operations, and artist support. Beyond her professional work, Alex loves interior design, vintage shopping, and her goldendoodle Lucy.
