Mark Shemtob

Board Member

Prior to his retirement at the end of 2018, Mark owned Abar Retirement Plan Services, a New Jersey based actuarial and consulting firm specializing in retirement programs. Currently he is involved with public policy work focused on issues of national retirement security with the Society of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries and is a Director of the Institutional Retirement Income Council. Mark earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany and a master’s degree from Columbia University; both in mathematics. Mark is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Certified Financial Planner. Mark currently serves on the Board of Directors of CASA of Morris and Sussex County NJ. He also provides pro bono consulting services to veterans starting businesses through Veterans Ventures Program as well as assistance on retirement issues to women through Savvy Ladies. He is a steady volunteer at the local homeless shelter and food pantry. Mark lives in Denville NJ with his wife Jane. He has two married sons and four grandsons.
